Hey, Face ID is different and many seem to fear change, but seriously why not give it a try? You can get a phone and if you don’t like face ID after using it for a week or so, simply return it for a full refund. You can set face ID to [not attention] and that simplifies the face recognition. I only have one eye and that is a prosthetic one. My other eye was completely removed eye lashes and all with just a skin patch from my wrist that was stitched in to cover the empty socket do to eye lid cancer. Just like the finger print where you can have multiple finger print captures, you can do the same with your face. I have one face ID with sun glasses and one without, and have no problems unlocking my phone that way. If you want to access your phone from your pocket and do not want to take it out to unlock the screen, you can just use the ID number code you set on your phone to unlock.
I hope my description of my missing eye is not to graphic or offensive to anyone. It is a source of great discomfort for me as far as my appearance. I shared this with you to hopefully a lay some of the trepidation and worries some of you have regarding the use of face ID. It definitely has some size to it, but it does fit in a pocket well and isn't to big to handle. the speakers are in the same place as the 7 and up. The ear peace is one speaker and the bottom speaker is down next to the lightening port. But the speakers sound good for listening to music and even face time. It has awesome battery life, very nice sound and it's fast and snappy. Getting used to the lack of home button and gestures is simple and easy once you've spent a few minutes with the phone. I honestly think this is the best iPhone Apple has ever made for both stability and reliability. On 3/9/2020 12:33 AM, Sieghard Weitzel wrote: What specifically do you need to know? The XR does not have a home button any more, but it still has the volume up/down button and the side button on the opposite side. Because of no home button it of course also does not have Touch Id, but uses Face Id for unlocking the phone (if you set it up) and the PIN is still required when the phone is rebooted or if Face Id fails a number of times. If you get a new XR and want to start Voiceover to set it up you have to press that side button 3 times quickly just like you would have pressed the home button 3 times quickly on the phones which had one. The rest is pretty much the same except that you should probably either get somebody to show you the gestures you need to learn to replace the home button, e.g. getting out of an app back to the home screen, bringing up the app switcher etc. or check Applevis for Podcasts about this.
