I did more experimenting.

If I set VoiceOver to use the Siri American Female, or got Siri to say the word 
Yesterday, it sounded normal.
When I switched to the Siri American Male, it said yestertay  with the t 
instead of a d as in day.
But for me, no other VoiceOver voice mispronounced yesterday.

So, now that this horse has been beaten to death, I’m going to leave this 
thread alone.
No company can really sort out a bug that is completely inconsistent.  So, 
whatever crept into some voices that screw up the pronunciation perhaps will go 
away after the next update.
Or not.
Very odd stuff this.
