Hi Keith,

You are right. This has to be done with iTunes. You first connect the iPad to 
the computer. here's where I don't totally know the steps, but I'll give you 
what I do know. To put a phone in recovery mode, you press the volume up 
button, release that, then press the volumae down button, release that. Now 
press the sleep/wake button and hold it until the computer tells you it is in 
recovery mode. You cnow take it from there with iTunes. You want the option 
that says restore and update. Hope this helps a little bit at least.H a great
