Shane, Not sure how you would "turn on" your Apple TV since it doesn't have an on/off switch. Anyhow, just double tap on the Airplay button and then double tap on Apple TV which should show up there and that's all. If you want it back on your iPhone do the same but double tap on iPhone once you have the Airplay menu up.
