Yes, Around Me works in New Zealand and Australia as well. Another similar app to consider is Where To. Where To accesses bus stop locations in cities that support it, such as Wellington, NZ. Also, Where To has a nifty feature that gives the direction and distance to the POI you selected. This information is updated as one travels toward the PI. I use both apps.
