In 2009 I bought the first iPod Touch with VoiceOver, the 3rd generation. At that time, the normal battery life was maybe 5 hours of use. But, if you were listening to audio, while the device was locked, you could get 40 hours. I tested that very soon as I had ripped most of my CD collection into iTunes so I had probably 60 hours of music. I select songs, shuffle all, and started it playing. I plugged in headphones, so I wouldn’t hear it all the time while I was working, etc. I checked the battery after 36 hours and it was at 20%.
That is still true. If you are playing audio, or video for that matter, and lock the phone, you get far greater battery life. Whether that has to do with the screen brightness or not, I don’t know, but probably not as having the device locked does more than just blank the screen. I know with my new SE 2020, with screen brightness set to auto and leaving the screen curtain on, I get a full day and more depending on usage, but I use it a lot every day for books, email, reading news, searching the web, etc. Yesterday, from 100% in the morning, it was at about 50% when I went to bed. It doesn’t lose much at all over night, maybe 1 or 2%. Or, will I save more battery power if the screen is locked? Thanks, James B -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
