Hi Davy, With my Orbit Reader 20 plus, the hide keyboard command works flawlessly. When I delete a character, there is no sound. I hear VoiceOver say the character deled. The only bonk sound is if I am at the beginning of an edit field and try to move left, or at the end and try tomove right. Or, when not in an edit area and issue a command that does nothing there.
