Is this a new phone? Sounds like you haven’t turned slide to type off yet. Go into Settings -> General -> Keyboard and toggle slide to type off.

I open the search field and as I am typing the name of the app and moving my finger around the keyboard it starts reading words and I can't figure out how to get back to the regular keyboard. I looked all through the settings but can't seem to find the right place to stop this behavior. Any ideas out there.
