Downcast is very customizable both globally and by each podcast. You can adjust how often it refreshes, when it deletes episodes, and decide if you want a default behavior or something different for each podcast feed. I tried Castro but didn't like the structure of it. I really like that Downcast lets you see each feed, and you can decide if you want to open that one and see all the episodes. Matthew

The two features I enjoy most are the ability to use chapter support as well as the ability to export episodes to Dropbox, but one thing that drives me absolutely nutty about Downcast are missing episodes. This morning I was listening to an episode, took the dog out, and lost Internet connection. When I came back in, the episode I was listening to had vanished. It seems to get rid of episodes it thinks I have finished listening. I’m glad it thinks it’s being helpful, but I’d like to keep the complete list of episodes available regardless of play time. First, is there a way to fix this issue on Downcast? Second, are you using an alternative podcast player you know will give me the two features I love and avoid the feature I despise? I keep hearing Jonathan Mosen talk about Castro, and my only hesitation to check it out is the subscription model. I don’t mind subscription plans, but for this sort of thing, I would rather pay a large lump sum up front. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
