Hello Maria, I updated to iPad OS 14 and I can still find all of my photos.
The first time I launched the Photos app, after updating, however, I had to tap the Photos button located near the upper left corner of the display. Keep in mind that (1) I am using an iPad and (2) I keep all of my photos on my local devices, only. No iCloud photos, for me.
