When it comes to cable companies unless they have a true fiber connection to offer you the quality of service can be all over the place. Even if they do offer fiber, it might not be as good a offering as other companies. For example we have earthlink and our speeds are a semetric, meaning that they furnish one gig outgoing and one gig incoming at all times. Yes we gave up cox cable the 14th of february of this year. Another company that claims to offer the same service as earthlink in our neighborhood is at&t fiber. Well a little food for thought and something to think about. In your trouble shooting here's something you should check first, this is in our router and should be in most routers. Once you log into the router find the speed test and check it. If it's correct you've eliminated one thing. Without knowing this information you don't know if you're getting the service you're paying for. If you are getting the right service you might have a device that isn't operating correctly. I wish I was there and I would get it sorted out quickly, but I think you can do it.

No. I have not reset my network settings. I did find out that my husband who has a Mac which is also on Wi-Fi, his Mac is getting very slow results too. And that Mac has not been updated in a while. So I have a feeling it must have something to do with the router. But then why would LTE on the phone be affected? It’s really very weird. And it’s beyond my pay grade.

Well, I guess it depends on what speed you’re paying for. We just changed plans, and strangely enough, the cheaper plan had a better Internet speed. It’s 600 that we are supposed to get. Now I never get that over Wi-Fi. But I am in the hundreds, or should be. So I just don’t know.

Something strange is going on with download speed here. On this phone, whether or not I am on LTE or on my Wi-Fi, speed is much less than usual. This is with iOS 14. I use the speed test app. Usually, my download over the LTE is somewhere just north of 100 mbps. And if I’m on my Wi-Fi network, it’s considerably more than that. The fact that both speeds are way down from where they should be makes me think there’s something going on with the phone. Checked my 7+, and it’s download speed is also way down on Wi-Fi. That one doesn’t have a Sim, so I can’t check LTE. It’s not my cable, because I have a computer with a wired connection, and it’s getting over 600 which is what it should get. So it’s not Comcast. I’m really at a loss. I have an Orby mesh system which has worked very well since we got it a couple of years ago. The app is still working, and it appears everything is online as it should be. But this is really screwed up.
