Hi Mike, We have a similar model, MFC L2710DW and we did not need the app. My wife followed the WiFi setup that you do on the printer, then there is a button on the router that blinks and you press that, and wait until there is an OK button on the printer display, press that, and it prints a connection successful page. After that, you select print from an app and hit find printer or whatever it is called, and the printer just shows up. Hopefully, if that doesn’t work, there is a Brother help center number in the documentation. HTH,
