Hi, make sure you have the latest update for the iOs app. I noticed I needed to update it on my iPad. Once done, the type with Alexa feature seems to be the first item on the screen.
Figuring out new things to do with Echo is sometimes hit and miss. Are you signed up for the Amazon emails that come every Friday? Googling is helpful. Also searching the skills for something in particular you may want. I think you also can ask Alexa, what can you do?
