UV light is used in many applications including in water filters and I assume it probably works well enough. Would I spend money for something like this? Probably not, I wash my hands frequently and from time to time I just wipe down my iPhone. I think it's important to realize that sometimes devices like this may give you a false sense of security, I think it's still much better to wash yur hands with soap and warm water often and simply don't touch more stuff than you have to when you are out and about. Certainly those of you in Australia and New Zealand can sit back and gloat if you wish since the super strict lock-downs early on in your countries have maybe not illiminate COVID-19 completely, but they have virtually illiminated community transmission and you can mostly go about your lives as before at this point.
