Hi,

This poster stole my thunder I was gonna post and say wait till you hear the sub but since he got here first I'll just say I resisted it for ages because I didn't want to spend the money and I thought that I'd not be able to move it into place due to my petite size and its weight. But Sieghard and others said try it and you won't regret it.  I did as thankfully Sonos offered a Klarna payment plan and oh my stars does it give a new facet to the experience. I wonder if the store Richard went to had a sub on display if so give it a listen you will love it too.

My only Sonos related question of late is when you search for stations it shows stations often in both sonos radio and Tune in but when you play a station from sonos radio you still sometimes hear the tune in intro sounder anyway so one wonders what the purpose is of having both listings.

Take good care and happy listening one and all.

Robin

At some point, you may want to save up and get the sub gen 3. I have it paired with a sonos beam and 2 1sl speakers and it sounds amazing through my TV and into my computer.

We don’t want to completely break the bank just yet.

The way our living room is set up, I’m thinking the sound bar will do a great job.

It should be here in a couple more weeks.

Richard,

I’m pretty sure those of us with Sonos already

Arent’ surprised,

And yeah the price is the biggest issue with sonos and of course other products from other manufacturers.

But great choice although I myself would have put some sonos 1 speakers in your lounge / living room area as rear speakers from your sound bar.

I find they do give a great surround feature to the sound bars etc.

Hello all,

This is a very long email, so be prepared, or just go ahead and hit delete.

I have to say, I was a huge sceptic concerning the Sonos system.  I was under the impression that they were all too expensive.

Then, my wife and I had someone come in from a local audio store to give us an estimate and suggestions on how best to get audio in our kitchen and two office spaces.

We have a 1923 house that has lath and plaster construction which is difficult to deal with if you start talking about cutting holes into the ceiling or walls, so I was hoping for either a wired method that could go through the floors or something wireless.

After he spent about 30 minutes with us and looking at various options, he came down to recommending a Sonos amplifier and 3 remote Sonos One speakers for the other rooms.

The amplifier would allow us to keep our current receiver and wired bookshelf speakers and have TV sound everywhere, etc.

I might have gone with that except for two things.  They wanted to charge about $350 for installation and after consulting with Sieghard from this list, I realized that I could do the installation easily with the app and that a Sonos sound bar would make more sense for the living room than the amp.

So, we decided to check around for other stores and found that Video Only sells Sonos equipment and we’ve had good luck with them in buying our TV and receiver.

Plus, they had the new Sonos Arc sound bar on demo along with the various remote speakers.

Once we heard the Arc, we were hooked.

We also decided we don’t need the voice control on the room speakers so went with the Sonos One SL speakers, which are the same as the Sonos One’s without the microphone and Alexa, etc., and are $20 less per speaker.

We bought 3 Sonos One SL speakers and had them set up pretty easily with the Sonos app.

I knew I had 30 days to return them if we didn’t like them.

Well, if I tell you that after a week, we went back and bought two more so we’d have stereo pairs in the kitchen and my office space; you will know that we loved them.

And, I will say that if one can afford it and has the space, get two for each room because as good as they sound individually, they sound a whole lot better when set up as a stereo pair.

The Arc Sound Bar is on order.  They had a shipment of 40 of them a couple weeks ago and they were gone in two days.

We spent less on the system than if we had gone on vacation somewhere for a week, and that isn’t going to happen any time soon, so why not make our house even more comfortable than it is already.

It is great to have access to my entire iTunes library along with various radio streaming services.

We are two, very happy campers with much more music playing more often.

Richard
