First, would be an open book so you could get two pages scanned at once, and ideally, keep track of page numbers within the scan. So if I scan the beginning of a book, the first two pages I scan would be page 1, then 2, etc. Magazine articles are often in columns that might be two or three columns on one page, so to be able to scan a magazine page, and have the columns read column 1, then column 2, etc. It would be ideal I think that if you wanted it to ignore columns like on a menu, you could turn columns off in hopes that it could read across so the price would match the item, but that is a lower priority to me than books or magazines.
