Once you have downloaded and opened a book, you can start continuous reading by swiping down with two fingers. You stop reading by taping the screen once with two fingers. You can also read individual lines by slowly moving your finger down the page. To go forward a page, swipe left with three fingers. To go back a page, swipe right with three fingers. I keep this streight in my head by picturing turning the pages of a book. If you want to go forward a page, you flip the page over to the left and you reverse the move if you want to go back a page. Note you use the page flipping gesture when you are not in continuous reading mode. In that mode, the pages flip on their own, automatically. When not in continuous reading mode, when you flip a page, the kindle app will automatically start reading the newly turned to page. To close the book, double tap anywhere on the screen and the book menu will open. There you can double tap close book and then you will return to your library where you can open another book. This menue also has a navigation drawer which allows you to move to different parts of the book. Okay, hope this helps.
