Seeing AI does a very good job. As does SuperSense. The rule of thumb that I learned from Digit-Eyes' page on scanning bar codes is that on cans or bottles with a label, the code is usually near the seam on the lower half of the container. Boxes are usually on the bottom. Plastic bags are usually near the seam, toward the bottom. Cans and bottles without labels, you just have to keep turning the container until you find it.
