Hi Steve,
Just for clarification, are you saying you can one finger tap one time and the
screen curtain turns on and off? Are you using iOS 14.4?

Subject: An interesting oddment about VoiceOver gestures

By accident, when I was turning my screen curtain off to let a
non-visually-impaired person look at the contents thereof, I tapped once
with three fingers, then the other two times with only two fingers, and
the gesture worked! So, thought I, how far does this go? I tried
toggling screen curtain again, but this time making the second and third
taps in the gesture with only one finger. It worked again!

So then I tried it the other way--tap with more fingers on the
subsequent taps. This yielded some interesting results. Mostly, if there
were more fingers tapping in the subsequent taps, you got the function
that the more-fingers multitap gesture would have executed; for example,
a three-tap multitap gesture consisting of first three, then four, then
four taps results in the equivalent gesture--a tri-finger
triple-tap--which copies the last thing VoiceOver spoke to the
clikpboard. I haven't gotten real crazy yet and tried increasing numbers
of taps in a multi-tap gesture, such as 2-3-4, or even 3-4-2, but
clearly there's something going on here that I'm wondering if Apple is
planning to implement in future versions of VoiceOver that might give
yet even more functionality to the multitap gestures when different
numbers of fingers are used for each tap. For now, fewer fingers are
taken as the number of fingers in the first tap, while more fingers are
interpreted as that number of fingers in the first tap even if it's in
fact less, like 3-4-4. Very interesting.
