You must be buying really tiny cantaloupes *smile* I would say the fourth gen Echo is more like a slightly larger tennis ball, sorry, I'm not too familiar with baseball, but I think that is more like it. I bought my wife the version which has a clock display which she loves because if she wakes up at night she can just glance at it to know what time it is. At my office I just set up the Echo Show 5 which is the smallest Echo with a screen and I primarily bought it because it makes it very easy to connect to my ring video doorbell with just a voice command. However, you still wouldn't be able to just play movies, yes, you could set up YouTube I think, but if you want to use it you would be better off with a Google smart speaker with screen since Google owns YouTube and it's already integrated. I am not sure about Amazon prime Video on the Echo Show, we just never use it for that. With a Google speaker with screen, whatever they call it, you can also play anything on your iPhone like Netflix or in the TV app and send it to the Google via Chromecast.

It’s about the size of a cantaloupe. No it does not have a screen. Maybe I will get a little one with a tiny screen or the smaller screen so that I can just watch movies without having to touch my phone. Thanks for cluing me into what was should’ve been obvious. Anyway I’m playing around with this looking at commands seeing I still have a lot of work to do to streamline it’s recognizing the specific podcast and things like that that I want to play. This morning it’s doing a pretty good job of doing it, Meaning I’m getting the syntax down that Alexa is best at recognizing. I meant to write listen to movies not watch since I wouldn’t be able to see a thing on any screen. It[s demos of various echo skills. Also for more in-depth demos, the echo show podcast is good. It would help us if we new what kind of Echo you have. As far as enabling video skills, that is limited to echos with screens, the echo show and it’s variants, and the echo spot. The echo show comes in five, eight, and ten inch sizes. The only echo you can watch Amazon is the echo show. To enable some skills, go to the amazon Alexa app to more. You’ll find an area called skills and games. You can also enable skills by voice if you know the skill name. Some basic set up has been done today. I've read some helpful info from emails Amazon keeps sending me and I've been on the Amazon site which gives a list of things to look into. Some of what I am told to do isn't fool proof, perhaps due to human error. I cant seem to get at the place having to do with enabling video such as Prime Video or Netflix. I've got both Apps on the phone and naively thought I could use Alexa to activate those apps. It doesn't seem to work that way! I followed instructions from a hard file as well as where Alexa tole me to look, that were supposed to get me to TV and Movies under Skills and Games, I think, but I never got there. Under the section in settings for Communication, I did check off various music services and podcasts and Tune In stations I listen to and Alexa was able to find those. I can't however find the place to do that with video, TV and/or movies I am subscribed to. I really did imagine that I could tell Alexa to do things like open Bard and continue reading what I was reading last. I assumed the Echo device was totally privy to everything on my phone, as if it had a mirror image of it. Hmmmm, I'm smiling. Still I did manage to do a "drop in" message to my brother's own Echo and he was indeed notified he had a message and when he asked Alexa to play it, there I was on a live recording which is what I chose to use as the medium. I look forward to learning to do as much as I can with the Echo "hands off. Any tips anyone can provide about which sources are most reliable and easy to follow would be greatly appreciated. This will take a systematic approach to getting things set up at more than the most basic level. Deidre Deidre -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
