That sounds like somehow you got the sample of spatial audio started. If oddities like that happen again, try the reset by holding the digital crown and the noise cancelation buttons down for several seconds until it reboots, and it will disconnect from the phone temporarily until it comes up again.

I have had some interesting anomalies. First of all, when I installed the latest update on the phone, I had the headphones on. When the phone re-started, the headphones did not automatically connect. That was not a surprise. However, when I unlocked and logged back in with my passcode, music began playing on the pods. This sometimes will happen if the two-finger double tap is misinterpreted by the phone. However, I made sure the music app was not open, removed the headphones from my ears to break the connection, but the music continued to play. I shut down the phone completely but the music continued to play. I was finally able to get it to stop after re-starting the phone twice. That is odd to me.
