I finally found Voice Memos in my Utilities Folder, tried it and got an adequate recording, which was all I was interested in getting, thanks.

Importance: High it very much depends on what type of recording you want to do. for just basic recording of your own voice, then the affore mentioned and already included, "voice memos" app will be just fine. if you want to do other types of recording however, and if you are also looking to share/transfer them, or edit them on another device like a pc, then a better recording app would be a good idea. I personally like either pocket recorder, or ultimate vr. the first does a very good job, has good sharing options, and is easy to get going with quickly, but ultimate vr does have more advanced settings, to help you get better recordings. also, are you planning to just use the built in mic, or get an external one? hope some of this helps.
