If you have Life Photos turned on the camera does not make the usual click. Of course you should still find the picture in the Photos app. Which method did you use to take the picture, did you double tap on Take Picture or did you use one of the volume buttons, can't remember if both volume buttons work, but volume up should work for sure. Anyways, if you want the sound just turn off life photos, the control for that is in th etop right corner of the camera screen.
