And I tried my wired Logitech headset with my simple, older camera cable and it also worked, but in a limited way. I was able to hear voiceover on the headset and also play an audible book or music, I could use the in-line remote of the headset to change the volume, but I could not Play/Pause or change tracks through the headset remote. I also tried a recording using the Voice Memos app and it used the headset's microphone, but when I brought up SIRI the SIRI tone played on the iPhone and not on the headset. Similarly, when I tried a phone call the headset was completely bypassed so as Richard said, there is little point in trying to use a USB headset, you are much better off using the wired Earpods which come with the phone or, if you want a more substantial over the head design, look into Lightning headsets as there are many options available.
