You should make sure that it is set to the short cycling position. This will make sure that the AC or heating unit runs for a shorter period of time. With some installations, the batteries provide the voltage to the system. Try changing the batteries and see if this makes a difference. I do not know, even with ours, if you can use Alexa to set a schedule. I have not tried that as I am spoiled by having a sighted wife to do those things. The one down side of smart thermostats is that if your internet goes down, you would have to be able to use the controls on the device to make adjustments. But, it will still work on the schedule I believe.
