There are some times momentary connection issues with the Siri server, calling Apple will take about as much time as waiting and trying again, perhaps even just rebooting the phone. If this behavior continues for more than 5 or 10 minutes, then maybe it would be time to call Apple. Also, make sure you don't have a bunch of apps open in the background eating your resources.
