Marty, first speaker designed for the earpiece has less audio quality than the speaker on the bottom of your phone. I would first want to take my phone over to in authorized service depot to see if this speaker simply needs to be cleaned. I had a problem with my main speaker on my iPhone 8 and I took it into the Apple store and got it cleaned for free since it didn’t need replacing. HTH
