It is like, there is this family, where the mom and dad got married, after each were widowed or divorced. Say, the dad had the cutest little red headed kid, but the step mom had a hard time liking that one. Plus, if that kid was the only red head around, that kid always stuck out. It is sort of an odd man out saying.
