Or the Pro software upgrade. But I don't know what that upgrade offers.
Do you know if a person at a desktop but without any Tonido software on it
can downlaed files? I'd like to set this up with a TonidoPlug for my use and
access with iOS, but my teenager needs file access from school, but their not
allowed to dosnload any software. Can she get files from Tonido to process on a
school desktop and then save again to Tonido via a webbrowser or something?
Thanks.

And you have to pay for this I am sure. Tonido does not cost, unless you
want to pay for the plug.

Ycarbonite is unlimited and has a plan for storing externals.

How fast is it? I almost did PogoPlug a year ago, but was concerned about

I doubt Carbonite would let me have access to my external drive and it's
700 gigs of content? I definitly know that I can not access that much via
Dropbox. If I had my 2 TB hard drive full, I could access all of it using
Tonido, but not Dropbox and I'm sure not Carbonite, so to me that is a bigger
advantage over using the two you mention. JMO.

That's the problem, that the computer needs to be left on. Carbonite does
not require this and accomplishes the same task. I would not go so far as to
say it's a Dropbox replacement either. To be fair, both aforementioned options
require either a subscription or give limited space. I'm glad things like this
are shared for our convenience, but I did want to point out the disadvantages
and alternatives.--Joe

Anywhere, as you access your files and folders via a URL. You can be at a
friend's house 1000 miles away and as long as your computer is left on at home,
you can access whatever you have set to share.

Hi Kayla, nice to see you again! It's been a while. Does this program
work when you're on Wi-Fi at home, or can you do it from anywhere?

Just passing this one on for anyone who might be interested.
Just thought I would write and tell you about a cool new free program
that allows you to access your files on your computer, open them, stream them,
download them, all from your iPhone.
It's called Tonido. The program has to be download on the computer at:
www.tonido.com
The app is in the app store and it's free! You'll need the desktop
version for windows on the website.
Once you download, be sure to set up on the comp first, as you must
create a username and password.
This program is cool. No more wasting time uploading to dropbox,
transfering files hither and thither, or using itunes to do anything!
The url that it gives you under the text, "access your comp from
anywhere" when you are on the Tonido website after you have created your
account is the url that you will need to put into the phone as well as the
username and password. It will look like your username/tonidoid.com. When you
first enter tonido from the phone you will need to do this, and tap done when
you're done. There's a "saved" button that has some people confused, you don't
press that one... Username, password, and url are all you will need to enter.
Please know that you must have tonido running on your comp to be able to access
it from the iPhone or it will say empty when you click on a folder.
It shows the c e, and g drives as well. I have yet to test and see if it
sees externals.
It will stream all different file types either at their native bitrate,
or there are choices if you're picky in the settings tab. You can even open
word docs, pdfs, txts, etc.
Hope this is helpful to someone.
Regards,
Kayla King
