I have never paid for the full version of you mail. You mail disables your voice mail on your phone itself. It is a pretty straight forward process. Just let your phone ring when it is trying to set up the app. I had that issue. The app will even clearly say, it will be ringing your phone to check the voice mail. I really like the app.
