Well, I don't think an iPhone will be damaged if it's in your back pocket and you sit on it. Plus, I think you'll notice it pretty quickly once you sit down, so you can retrieve it before it takes too much of a prolonged strain. All that being said, if you're worried about it then just don't ever put it in your back pocket.
