After you enable passcode and you wake up your phone you swipe up from the
bottom or, if you still have a phone with a home button, you press it.
Then a keypad comes up on the screen just like the one you get when you dial a
phone number, find the numbers for your passcode and enter them.
How you enter them depends on your typing mode, if you have standard typing
selected you find the number and then double tap the screen or do a split tap,
i.e. with one finger on the number you want to enter, touch the screen anywhere
with another finger.
If you have touch typing enabled then you just fine the number and as soon as
you lift your finger off the screen the number is entered.
A third alternative is to use a Bluetooth keyboard where you can enter the
numbers for your passcode on the numbers row or, if your keyboard has a numeric
pad, enter them there. I assume you could also use a braille display.

How exactly do you enter in a passcode using voiceover?
I've never been able to do that to unlock my phone. Any ideas?

You really are making your life difficult if you want to enter a passcode even
if it's just 4 digits every time you want to unlock your iPhone. Face Id works
so well and reliably and I'm sure you can get somebody to help you set it up.
As far as the clock instructions are concerned, are you not able to imagine a
clock face, e.g. a circle where 12 O'clock is at the top, 6 O'clock is at the
bottom, 3 o'clock is on the right side (between 12 and 6) and 9 o'clock is on
the left side?
You could also use the analogy of a 2-dimensional Globe/representation of the
Earth with the cardinal directions North (up) East (to the right), South (down)
and West (to the left).
All you have to do when you set up Face Id, this is a one-time process, is to
hold the phone straight in front of your face, then when prompted look a bit to
the right, then down, then left and back up. Like I said, I'm sure somebody
could help you with it and once it's done turn off attention mode which for
some blind people is better if they can't really focus on the screen and you
are good to go.

If I get an iPhone with face ID, I won't use it. I'll use my passcode instead.
I didn't know that you had a choice between face ID and your passcode when
using a newer iPhone. If I would have known this a couple years ago, then I
would have gotten a newer iPhone then the 8.
I don't get that whole clock thing about 3:00 and 6:00 when setting up face ID.
