I agree with Richard re u calling apple for the answer. However, having said that, yesterday, I heard a consumer report addressing the topic of whether the usb C lightening cable is really any faster than the standard ones apple use to include with their phones. Both were tested and the usb c lightening cable actually did charge faster than the traditional one.
