Anthony, You are hitting the wrong button. There is a plus/minus sign above the numbers on the calculator which I believe is used for formulas. The layout of the Apple Calculator screen is starting from the top: Result is the farthest toward the top of the screen. Below that you will find a row with: Clear (or it may say all clear) then to the right of it is the plus/minus, to the right of that is percent, to the right of that is divide.
The next row down is: 7, 8, 9. Multiply or times The next row is: 4, 5, 6, Subtract or minus The next row is: 1, 2, 3, Add or plus The last row is: zero, decimal point, equals.
