In any case, I am impressed with how the app works and the sound quality of their bird recordings. I decided I wanted to support them once I confirmed that the Cornell Labs really is connected to Cornell University and how much they are doing for Bird protection and revitalization. I wrote them with a question because one of the benefits of supporting them is a digital Bird magazine they produce. I was concerned about the accessibility of a digital magazine. It took a couple of weeks to get an answer, but the answer came today and they said, and I quote, "I checked with our staff and they don't know anything about Screen Readers, but here is a link to the digital magazine so you can check it out." I checked it out. And, while they may not know anything about screen readers, they have produced a fully accessible magazine. They clearly have smart people who actually pay attention to current web accessibility standards. The pictures have good alt-tags that describe them in some detail, but not too much. All the articles are accessible. Their web site for setting up your membership is mostly accessible other than one key element. Picking the level you want. So, I got sighted help for that. Whether you want to support them or not, the app is truly excellent.
