Hi Joshua, The Kindle app is very accessible. Usually, you double-tap a book title once to download the book and a second time to open it. Then flicking down with two fingers reads the text, and it scrolls automatically. If you're hearing items like Contents, Add Bookmark, and Recommended Books, it sounds like you're in the menu for a book. In that case, the top item on the menu says, "Book actions menu, exit." Double-tap it to exit the menu and go into your book. When you want to do something other than read straight through your book, such as choose a different chapter from the table of contents or set a bookmark, double-tap anywhere on the screen, and the book's menu will open. The second option on the menu, Close book, closes the book and takes you to the list of your books.
