Hi Robin,

What system do you have, I mean is there a model name/number? I am in Canada
and while ADT does offer security systems here I am not sure if they have
the same as in the States. In my case I would be interested in what they
offer for businesses as I don't really need a security system at home, but I
do have one at my retail business.

Another thing I'd be interested in is the security of the security system so
to speak. Is that app protected by a password? If not anybody could disarm
your system who takes your iPhone away from you. I recently spoke with a
Chubb representative and he said that Chubb who is much more into commercial
security and access control doesn't yet offer anything like this for that
reason and while the convenience sounds great, I'd like to know it's save to
the point that some hacker can't gain access to it.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi,

Sadly I can't speak to the thermostat component as I too have a talking one
so declined that feature from ADT but if any of the other components are any
indication I'd be surprised if it didn't work.

I had to teach my ADT salesperson who by the way is no longer employed there
any more about voiceover as he didn't even know it existed on his I device
and thus couldn't address questions regarding the accessibility of the apt
when I first signed up.

I'm glad to say that my misgivings based upon his lack of knowledge were
unfounded and that the app is very easy with which to deal as is their web
based portal for controlling the system as well.

Good luck with whatever you decide. My system especially its intercoms
allowing me to find out who's at my door before its opened and the ability
to control lights and the like are some of the best things on which I've
ever spent money.

Hi Robin,

Well, this topic has just become of great interest. we have a security
system from Time Warner Cable. It's a an older system, however the newer
system supports an App for the iPhone. I spoke with a rep tonight and we
tried out the app on the call and it appears to be VoiceOver accessible. We
are going to meet with a rep soon to discuss its uses and I may either
purchase the new system, or perhaps switch over to ADT, we'll see how it
goes. I'm interested in the thermostat functions. I have a talking
thermostat already, but I'd be interested to know if I could control that
remotely.

Hi,

I too have a system from ADT and can happily report that its ADT pulse app
is very accessible with voiceover and allows you to control it in terms of
basic alarm functions but also allows you to interact with other devices
they offer such as thermostats and the timing of lights going on and off the
latter which is a godsend for me. For no longer do I have to defer to
others to set up the timing of outside lights going on and off for me.

I'm glad to say the app works well.

I actually have one through ADT which has a talking panel so I don't even
have to worry about VoiceOver and accessible phone access.
