I have not noticed this, if I am on the answer button doing a double tap always answers the call for me whether it’s a regular phone call, a Facetime call or WhatsApp. Anyways, a 2-finger double tap will also answer Facetime and WhatsApp calls, what I have observed whenever this may not work on the first try for me is that maybe I held my fingers too vertically so to speak and if my finger nails aren't super short they may touch the screen first and it won't properly register. It works much better if you hold your hand more parallel to the screen and really try to tap with the meaty part of your finger tips. Lastly it can sometimes not register correctly if my hands are extremely dry.
