Hi Mary, The only thought I have is that Siri volume is too low. To check this ask a question that she will have to speak for some time such as the weather. Do a 3-finger swipe down on the screen to get her talking and press the up-volume several times and see if you can hear her. I had something similar happen, but my symptom was that the tone for Siri and dictating was extremely soft.
