It's a pity that these battery banks don't emit an audible tone or
vibro-tactile indication when they are running low themselves. (I'd like
to find one that does? In the manner that a hearing aid does when the
battery in it is about to die. This would solve our problem with not
knowing its current unaided power status.)

My suggestion for an iPhone battery bank is the Poweradd Slim 2 for
$11. It can recharge a regular iPhone 1.5 to 2 times before it needs
recharging. The battery is the size of two cigarette lighters and fits
into most pockets.
