Since pressing and holding the power button on iPhones without a home button is to bring up SIRI it can't be used to bring up the power off screen hence having to press volume up and volume down before; it's not difficult and you get used to it very quickly. You can also press and hold the volume down and power buttons simultaneously for a few seconds, but I find pressing volume up, volume down and then holding the power button for about 2 seconds is easier and more reliable.
