Wayne,
Your student needs to determine whether he has an iPhone SE first generation or SE second generation commonly called the SE 2020. The first generation model is physically smaller than the SE 2020 which is the same physical size as the iPhone 7 and 8. Also, the first generation SE has a headphone jack while the SE 2020 does not. Here is how to reset for both models: * SE first generation: Press and hold both the right side power button and the Home button at the same time. I would recommend holding them for at least 12 seconds. The Apple logo will appear but this is entirely visual with no audible cues. Release both buttons after 12 seconds. * SE 2020: Press and release the volume up button (top left side) quickly followed by a quick press and release of the volume down button (middle left side just below volume up) and then press and hold the right side power button for about 12 seconds and then release. Users will be required to enter their device’s passcode after doing a reset. One of my students has an iPhone SE. He is not sure of the model or year number. I thought there was a way I could have him do a software reset using the home and power buttons. I did a YouTube search and those videos said to use the volume and side buttons and not the home button. Could someone clear this up for me and give steps for doing a software reset? He is having an issue with Siri and the phone's speech coming out of the handset versus from the speaker. I thought that perhaps a reset would fix the problem. Many thanks, Wayne Merritt Sent from my iPhone 11 -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
