Hi.

This problem was the main reason I got a new phone. Sometimes I try to call a
number in my contacts, and the bug happens. It doesn’t happen every time. When
it does, I turn my phone off and back on again, and things work. For me, this
was happening before 15.4.1.

There’s something else my phone is doing. If I make a call and go to speaker,
the volume is lower than what I had it at. If I increase the volume, it gets
louder. I usually have the phone at its maximum volume for speaker, so that
shouldn’t happen. Again, this was before 15.4.1.

I thought my new phone had corruption from when I got things from my old phone.
Evidently that’s not what’s happening.

Whatever’s going on also is affecting my Apple Watch from time to time.

That’s what I know.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

Subject: Re: A Question for Those Experiencing Siri Not Dialing Phone Numbers
Beginning with Symbols

Hey Mark,

This isn’t just a problem with special characters. Siri calling many phone
numbers for me just hangs and doesn’t connect. I think there is a wider issue
at play here than just special characters.

Hello Everyone,

I am just going to put this out there and if anyone knows of a solution,
please pass it on.

I have researched this bug, on the web, and a great deal of people are
reporting the problem. I, as yet, have not discovered a solution.

If the following makes no sense to you, then just ignore it.

In iOS15.4.1, Siri will not Dial Telephone Numbers that Begin with a Symbol

On some Wireless networks, one can selectively display one's CallerID by
inserting a prefix symbol sequence in front of a telephone number.

Please note that the prefix symbol sequence continues to function as
expected when one manually selects the phone number from the Contacts list
or from the Favorites page in the Phone app. The bug does not appear until
one attempts to use Siri to dial a contact, hands-free.

Steps to Reproduce the Bug:
1.
Create a Contact with a local telephone number that includes the prefix
symbol sequence of *31#. For example "*31#2125551212" (without the
quotation symbols.) This will allow the contact (John Doe) to see your
telephone number even when the show caller ID setting is disabled, in the
Phone app.

2.
>From the Settings area, select the Phone app.

3.
Set [SHOW MY CALLER ID] to OFF.

4.
Say to Siri, "Call John Doe." Siri will respond with "Calling John Doe" and
the phone app will appear. After a few seconds, however, the phone app
disappears and no call is placed.
