I had a sighted spouse, and quite honestly sometimes it’s better to do things myself, being as independent as possible! I have nothing against asking for help and allowing sighted people to help, but to say that’s what sighted people are for just promotes the stereotype for individuals who are blind or disabled can’t do things on our own!
