Hello Terri, Assuming you find the developer's contact information, describe the problem you are having in as much detail as you can. You could say something like, "All the buttons on this screen just say, "Button," so I can't tell which one does what," or "When I open the status screen, I just hear clicks when I touch the status information." Tell them what you are trying to accomplish, what steps you take to try and accomplish it, and what goes wrong. That way, they can follow along with VoiceOver running and see why it's a problem. You don't have to tell them how to fix it; just make sure they understand the issue. Especially if it's a small company or a single developer, you might want to refer them to the Developer Resources section of AppleVis, which is designed to help developers make their apps more accessible.
While you're waiting to hear from the developer, you might want to try turning on Screen Recognition in inaccessible parts of the app. Sometimes this can help quite a bit. No guarantees, of course, but it's worth a try. I hope that's of some help.
