When you are at your coffee shop and are connected you can swipe down on the network to “More” and then double tap, after that you can toggle the “Auto Join” option to off and that might do it. If it doesn’t then you have to forget the network which means if you want to connect to it again down the road you would have to reenter its security key. If there is no security key, e.g. if it is an open public network then maybe turning off auto join will do it. If all else fails you can always turn Wi-Fi off completely. In iOS 16 you will have more options to manage networks you have connected to in the past, currently if you have connected to your coffee shop before but you are not there you won’t see that network which is why you have to wait until you are physically there to see if you connect automatically or not.
