Hi Dennis,
Yes.
VoiceOver will tell you how many faces, if any, it sees, and where they are, 
centered, near top left, etc.
So open the camera app.
Find the camera chooser button and double tap so it uses the front facing 
camera.
If you have a tripod, that will make things easier, but move the phone until it 
says one face, centered, and squeeze the volume up button and it should take 
the picture with less shaking than trying to double tap the take picture button.
Or, use Aira and get them to take your picture with your phone.
