You can add contacts from the messages app, once you open a message tap on the phone number at the top, then either swipe right or touch the screen on the right near the top and find "Info". Just to be complete, if you swipe from the right you have first the phone number, then you have 4 buttons: Call, Video, Mail and Info. Double tap on Info and then a bit further down on the screen you have the following options: Create New Contact Add to existing contact Block this caller If you select "Create new contact" the contact screen opens, enter the person's first and last name and whatever else you want to add, the phone number will already be there , but you may want to select a label, e.g. Mobile" since by default I believe it is just "Phone". When you have finished tap "Done" at the top right of the screen.
