I tried a few of them as well, definitely not something I would use, but they still understandable at least for me. Anyways, now you know so just ignore them.

Those nearly f**cked me yesterday, I clicked on them thinking I'd still get an understandable voice but no. I managed to scroll up and click on any voice, I don't know or care which one and got it to talk in a way I could understand. Those novelty voices need to just go away. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Curtis Delzer Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2022 3:03 AM To: [email protected] Subject: be careful or . . . IN IOS16 which we downloaded, there is, below all the speech voices a heading called "novelties." Be careful, because these "novelties" completely change or "novelize" the speech of the synthesizer they are making fun with and of. There are ones which change the speech to the point of not understanding at all what is intended. My wife accidentally activated "bells," which is a West Minster chime speaking but, she didn't know what happened. and, forgot that if you have other languages in your rotor you can go to it and escape the nightmare of not knowing what is happening, what is being spoken and how to escape. Remember one thing; you can audition the sound without activating it, or, for that matter listen to a voice without activating it either by flicking down on an item and one of the options is to "speak sample," which it would have done on the "bells" novelty except she activated it and for awhile we both were like in a country where the language and customs are completely not known in a condition where it was vital we knew what to do and how to act and could not. Like an actual nightmare. At first she was utterly lost and then she figured out that it was speaking, and then took some time to understand it for it was hard. My hearing is way below normal, but hers is extraordinarily excellent, however, the "bells" novelty was so different it took her some time to understand where she was and how to get back to some semblance of a speaking phone rather than one steeped in a belfry. First she couldn't understand enough to get anywhere or know from where to get to somewhere else, but after a while while we were both flummoxed, she understood enough to get words like "button," and others so she found the rotor and was then able to turn it to something other than at the time, her default language which was on "bells novelty," so wow, that was not fun. There are definitely people in this world who have very little to do but . . . because some of those "novelties" are not fun at all. Again, do remember to audition if you rely on your phone to speak to you to determine where you are, because you can get into a situation where your phone will not make sense, period. -- Curtis Delzer H.S.
