Regarding the pickers, you can flick up and down to select the value in each box, then hit the done button on the toolbar just above the pickers. I had the same issue with entering letters for the patient data, and I do not have any workarounds as of yet.

My typing style is set to touch typing. I typically find the letter I want to enter and lift my finger to enter the letter. When I enter my first, middle, and last name, I hear a click when I lift my finger on each letter. But I cannot confirm that I have entered the correct information. Here is my biggest problem. There are picker items for the month, day, and year of my date of birth. I adjust each of the picker items the the correct value and double-tap to hopefully enter the value. But when I look at the edit field, the original values of the picker items are still there. The cursor is positioned at the end of the date (which is today’s date). There is no delete button to delete the value. What do I need to do to be sure the values of the picker items are used as my birth date? I appreciate any help that will get me through this process.
